BuyRecordBot collects public product information from online stores so that AI shopping assistants can find products and see what each merchant publishes about them. It identifies itself as:
BuyRecordBot/1.0 (+https://buyrecord.app/bot)
What it reads
Public product listings: product name, link, price, availability and product type.
The average rating and number of reviews that the merchant itself publishes on its product pages, read from the page's structured data or from the review widget's numbers in the page. No scripts are run and review text is never stored.
The store's public return policy: the return window in days and whether returns are free.
BuyRecord shows all of this as published by the merchant on its own site. It is kept separate from BuyRecord's verified purchase outcomes and never counts toward a verified score.
How it behaves
It follows robots.txt for the user agent BuyRecordBot.
It makes at most one request per second to any site, and revisits a store about once a week.
It never logs in, never adds to a cart, never reaches a checkout, and never reads customer data.
It does not crawl marketplaces (Amazon, Walmart, Target, eBay, Etsy) or review platforms.
Opting out
Add this to your store's robots.txt (on Shopify: Online Store, Themes, Edit code, robots.txt.liquid):
User-agent: BuyRecordBot
Disallow: /
Or write to stephane.rix@buyrecord.app with your store's domain: we stop crawling it and remove its products from BuyRecord within 7 days.
